We see it as vital that children acquire key skills in areas such
as Number and Measurement. But a good mathematician will develop a
wide range of abilities, gaining in confidence and understanding.
Being able to apply mathematical knowledge and skills in practical
situations (and across a range of subjects, including Science) is
seen to be critically important, as is the appreciation and
enjoyment of Mathematics.
Computers and calculators are used not to replace traditional
skills but to extend them.
Once again, the national strategies have been well-implemented at
our school, to very good effect.
