In this subject,
children use their minds as well as bodies. There are many
important links with between PE, Health Education and
Science. PE sessions in the Hall are an important part of the
curriculum, as are outdoor sessions in more favourable
weather.
As pupils progress through the school, they will experience a
series of different sports, including football, "rugby touch",
netball, rounders and athletics. The emphasis remains on personal
development, but their is also opportunity for friendly competition
in a range of local tournaments
Children are given swimming lessons from Year 3 onwards. This
starts with use of the pool at the Beach Station Caravan Park,
thanks to the generosity of that organisation. As top juniors
(Years 5 and 6), children are taught at the Leisure Centre. While
there is a place for competitive swimming, the first concern in
Suffolk is to ensure that all children develop confidence and basic
skills.
Many of our pupils develop social skill, responsibility and
leadership through PE and Sport. Our association with the QCA – a
central government authority – has led to national recognition and
prestigious awards.
