Hello and Welcome

Hello to Dagmara, Samuel, Luke, Jay, Chloe-Marie, Ruby-May, Ellesse and Ryan, who have started school full time this term, it is good to see your cheery, smiling faces in school. Welcome also to Bethany in Year 2 and Tyler in Year 4. I am sure you will soon make lots of new friends and feel at home here at Langer.

Activities and Clubs

The number of activities and opportunities for children to take part is even greater this term.  Go the Clubs and Activity page for details.

SCHOOL DIARY/EVENTS 2008

Many additions to the Important dates - go to that page for details.

School Library

The new computer system is now installed in the refurbished school library. Children will now be able to borrow school library books. Mrs Rastrick from the Schools Library Service will be promoting our new library stock with the children during class sessions on 28th and 29th April. Details of after school story sessions during May and June will follow shortly.

We are holding a Book Fair on Wednesday. 21st May in the school hall from 3.30 pm onwards. Pete Johnson, the children’s author, will be working with Years 5 and 6 children in writing workshops on Friday 27th June, when we hope to officially open the library.

School Meals

As well as the new tasty ideas outlined in our School Kitchen Newsletter (attached), don’t forget the School Birthday Lunches, bookable 2 weeks in advance, details of which are available from the school office. We will also be holding our Come to Dinner days on Monday, 12th May and Monday, 30th June.

FOLSA

A very well attended disco on Friday, 14th March raised £159.93. Thank you to all the members of FOLSA for your hard work and enthusiasm in supporting our school. FOLSA have also donated £500 towards refurbishing the library – Thank you.

School Uniform

A reminder please: our school uniform is navy blue sweatshirt/jumper/cardigan. There seems to be a number of black jumpers appearing, the children do look smart in their uniform, and wearing our uniform colour of navy blue promotes belonging to and being part of Langer Primary School.

Also, a reminder: children need to have PE kit (t-shirt, dark shorts, trainers) in school at all times. In the cooler weather, children can wear tracksuits for outdoor PE, but preferably black/navy coloured tracksuits in keeping with school uniform. Thank you for your support with a practical, sensible uniform.

Behaviour

The behaviour of all our pupils around and in school is generally excellent, which is due to the children themselves and all adults reinforcing good behaviour positively. Any inappropriate behaviour is dealt with consistently, and staff always talk to the child/ren concerned to discuss actions and consequences.

School Policies

Over the past few months staff and governors have been working on looking at and updating the many policies, both curricular and whole school that we have to hold. A copy of the updated policy file is kept in the school office and is available for reading at any time.

Severe Weather

Following the high water flood alerts of Friday, 9th November, the school was closed. In the case of severe weather and possible school closure, please tune in to BBC Radio Suffolk 103.9 to 104.6 FM – www.bbc.co.uk/suffolk or SGR 96.4 to 97.1 FM – www.sgrfm.co.uk where regular updates are given.
