We have a named first aider who has oversight of
illness and accidents in school, as well as health and safety on
school visits.
If a child is ill or has a more serious accident
in school, we will make immediate contact with parents or a
nominated person. Less urgent cases are dealt with in school and
the child will be carefully monitored. An accident/sickness report
may be sent home.
A first aid kit is available for each classroom
and for lunchtime supervisors, this can also be used to store
asthma medication.
Please keep us informed about illness which has
health implications for others, for example, German
Measles.
The school cannot take responsibility for
administering medicine in school. If a child still requires
medication due to illness, it is unlikely that he/she should be in
school anyway. This is in line with advice received from the Local
Education Authority. We do, however, recognise those special
circumstances that require ongoing provision. Please discuss these
with the Headteacher.
A programme of health checks (including dental,
height/weight) operates for all children. Advance notice in writing
is sent to
parents.
