In both inspections (1998 and 2003), Ofsted praised our school
for the excellent level of care for the health, safety and welfare
of its pupils.
As the day-to-day manager of the school, the Headteacher is
responsible for the safety and welfare of the children. All staff
(including Learning Support Assistants and Lunchtime Supervisors)
have an important role to play in maintaining a high level of care.
The Class Teacher takes on a particular responsibility with regard
to his or her pupils.
When problems arise that might affect the progress or welfare of
the child, it is vital that parents make early contact with the
school, through the Headteacher or the Class Teacher. Matters of
concern - whether they relate to school or home - will always be
treated confidentially. It is also vital that factual information
(medical details, telephone number, emergency contact) be kept up
to date.
A programme of health checks (including hearing, vision and
dental checks) operates for all children in their early years at
the school. Advance notification is sent to parents in writing in
all such cases.
At Langer School, our Child Protection Co-ordinator is the
Headteacher, Mrs Banthorp.
The Governor with responsibility for Child Protection and
Welfare is Mrs P
Dangerfield.
