Langer School is a County Primary School offering full-time
education for boys and girls from 5 to 11. Since the establishment
of our Nursery in September 1996, we have been able to provide
Nursery Education on a part-time basis (five half-days per week)
for three and four-year-old children.
The school was opened in September 1912 and is situated 100 metres
from the beach at the west end of Felixstowe. There are currently
seven classrooms, a hall, a library and a kitchen all within the
main building. The site also includes a purpose-built nursery unit
(1996). A major building programme, drawn up by the County
Architects’ Department, was completed in October 1992. Incorporated
within this was the construction of our school library. The
majority of the library costs was met from a £15,000 gift to the
school made by Hutchison Whampoa Ltd (Port of Felixstowe). Another
major building programme has just been completed with the addition
of three new classrooms and a new reception \ school entrance. The
current activity is to revamp the library and once again Hutchison
Whampoa Ltd (Port of Felixstowe) have given the school a donation
to help restock.
Our catchment area falls within a line drawn from Landguard Point
through the Docks to the Routemaster Roundababout, along Grange
Road, right into Mill Lane, right into Queens Road, right into
Wolsey Gardens, down Bent Hill, along Undercliff Road West and on
through the residential area bordered by the North Sea shoreline
back to Landguard Point.
