In December 2006 the Village Hall Fund Raising Committee started
organising events to raise money to update and refurbish the
village hall. A variety of events were organised and were very well
attended. Grants were also obtained. A Lottery was also started up
and is still going strong today. Together with Grants and
Fundraising the total raised and spent was just over £29,000.
Work has now been completed and there are new toilets
installed,(both Ladies & Gents are to the right of the foyer as
you enter the hall), plus a toilet for the disabled/baby change. A
Sound System and Hearing Loop installed. New (very comfortable!)
chairs and tables have been purchased, and the hall has been
completely redecorated.
A new floor has been laid in the main hall, this was badly damaged
earlier by floods, fortunately, the Committee was able to claim for
this from the hall's insurance company. Doors have been fitted to
replace the curtains that previously divided the Jubilee Room from
the main hall. A ramp is now in place to the front entrance with
safety rails and a new front door has been fitted. Also, the same
flooring is now in place in the foyer and the two small rooms that
are now available for hire if required.
The Village Hall Management Committee produce the monthly
magazine "Round & About Lawshall". A free copy is delivered to
every household in the village.
