LUNCHEON CLUB
On the 2nd Tuesday of each month approximately 40
people enjoy an excellent lunch expertly cooked by villagers in the
Village Hall (12.30pm). Founded in 1995, the team has now served
over 6,000 meals!
It is open to everyone in the village, plus the occasional
relative or guest. Lunch is always homemade – a typical menu might
be: Chicken tarragon & crème fraiche casserole, new potatoes,
carrots and peas - Strawberry roulade & cream.
A special summer buffet in Elmbank’s garden features Len’s
home-smoked ham, fresh salmon and extensive salads. There is an
extra special menu each December with wine. Drinks can be brought
on other occasions.
The 2 course lunch plus coffee normally costs £4 and names need
to be given to Len and Jo by the Saturday prior to the lunch.
A raffle is held each month, with many of the prizes donated by
guests.
Since its inception over £2,500 of profits have been distributed
to local good causes both inside the village (Village Hall and
fencing) and outside, such as Riding for the Disabled and the local
Hospice.
