What is Lowestoft Together? Lowestoft Together is a
Neighbourhood Management funded by Go-East (Government Office East)
from 2006 to 2010. Central to the effectiveness of Neighbourhood
Management was the recruitment of a local Board to over see
the process. Sue Henderson and Margaret Oldham are currently Co
Chairs of the Lowestoft Together Board.
Where did it come from? The Lowestoft Together initiative
was set up with the support of the Waveney Local Strategic
Partnership. The Lowestoft Together area consists of the 9 most
deprived Super Output Areas (SOA’s) in Waveney which are located in
the Harbour, Kirkley, Normanston, St Margaret’s, and Whitton
Wards.
Who is in it? The Board itself consists of 20 members
including 10 local residents, 2 members representing the Voluntary
Sector, 1 each representing Faith Groups, Neighbourhood Watch and
the Migrant Communities and 5 representatives from the Local
Strategic Partnership (LSP). The LSP representatives include
officers from Waveney District Council, the Crime and Disorder
Reduction Partnership, Waveney and Gt Yarmouth PCT, a Suffolk
County Councillor and a Waveney District Councillor.
How is it funded? The Neighbourhood Management initiative
has Revenue funding untill March 2010 and Capital funding till
March 2008 and has already funded a range of initiatives in the
SOA’s. At the moment we are, based on the experience of the first
year, developing a strategy which will inform the Board’s
activities for the next 3 years and we are keen to engage and work
with as many partners as we can to improve the satisfaction of
residents of the SOA’s with their areas.
