it.

  • Saturday 20-02 - St Mary the Great University Church Cambridge - 1.30 pm
  • Sunday 21-02 - St Mary's Church Offton - 5 pm

PROGRAMME

Messe de Notre Dame - Guillaume de Machaut

Lamentations of Jeremiah - Thomas Tallis

Cappella Neerlandica was founded by Harm Jansen in 2005. After Rome and Paris, the ensemble are now heading for Britain. The number of voices depends on the occasion and programme. The singers feature as part of the ensemble as well as soloists, so the music, which mainly originates from medieval scores, is performed as richly in character as possible.

Cappella Neerlandica go back to the original source of music which they execute with accuracy and enthusiasm. Ancient texts are the inspiration for beautiful musical poetry allowing the ensemble to perform this in a subtle and creative way.

Cappella Neerlandica was noted for some remarkable concerts featuring themes such as St Mary, Dance, Liberation and Chanson. Apart from Gregorian Chant, works by Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck and Claude Lejeune are also being performed. Besides a number of concerts and radio recordings, the "Lagrime di San Pietro" by Orlando di Lasso was performed six times in various European countries.

The singers are formidable musicians in their own right. Harm Jansen, the conductor, was appointed Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau by Queen Beatrix in 2006 for Services to Music.

Woolverstone Wish

Anyone who has visited Woolverstone Outpatients, at Heath Road Hospital, Ipswich, either to receive chemotherapy or to accompany a patient, cannot doubt the dedication of the staff.

However, the cramped area leaves a lot to be desired.

Well aware of this and with no funds available for improvements, the nursing staff are endeavouring to raise enough funds to remodel the Oncology department and update the environment.

They are hoping to make the area as comfortable and dignified for the patients as possible and also address some of the pressing capacity issues.

The target amount is £800,000 and is their long term goal, but they hope to make small but significant improvements as the fund-raising progresses.
