MIDDLETON COMMUNITY COUNCIL
Middleton Community Council has existed for a
number of years in order to raise funds which are used for
entertainment, enjoyment and the increase of amenities to the
village.
There is a committee which meets at regular
intervals to organize a range of events, discuss
suggestions and come up
with new ideas. Anyone resident in the village is eligible and
welcome to attend, participate and offer their services,
expertise and time. The membership fee is £2.50 per annum
which allows participation in all events.
In the past there has been quizzes, beetle
drives, bingo, film shows, cheese and wine parties, wine tasting
and a ceilidh. New, viable ideas are always welcome!
The main event, at present, is the annual village
fete which takes place on the August Bank Holiday Saturday. This is
the main fundraiser of the year and has taken place on recent years
in the centre of the village on the Bell Inn Field. Attractions
include a fun dog show, stalls, games, BBQ and children’s
activities.
The funds raised finance an annual Christmas
Party for the senior citizens and other Community Council members,
an annual Christmas outing for the children of the village and
purchase items for use by the community at large. To date purchases
include, tables for the village hall, a barbeque, a gazebo,
football posts for the playing field, the erection of the pavilion
on the playing field and the connection of water.
New members are always welcome. Anyone who can help
on an occasional basis can contact any of the committee
below.
