Since May 1984, Middleton has produced a monthly newsletter
(monthly that is, except
for September and January, the
months of August and December being rather busy, holidays
taking precedent in August and other celebrations taking place
in December.
All contributions in the newsletter are from those who live or
who are interested in the village. There are monthly resumes from
the Parish Council from their Parish Council Meetings, a monthly WI
update, news from the Community Council, plus articles etc.
Although the cost of the newsletter works out at approximately
£30 per month to produce, there is no charge for this publication,
the costs being borne entirely by voluntary contributions,
donations from village organisations, a small amount of
advertising, the occasional raffle etc.
The only costs incurred are for the cost of paper and the use of
the photocopier, which is kindly subsidised by the village primary
school. The editor (or compiler, typist) of the newsletter is Carol
Barrier, who also feeds the paper into the photocopier! There are
three sets of collators and staplers, Margaret and Ron Painter,
Margaret Church and Diane Cantle, and Sheila and John Prescott,
then several deliverers, all of whom give their services
freely.
Copy date is the third Tuesday in the month, all contributions
to Carol Barrier at Pennyfields, Rectory
Road.
