Copies of the minutes of meetings of Monks Eleigh
Parish Council, once formally approved by the Council, are
available at a cost of 10p per page + p&p (at cost). Should you
wish to avail yourself of this facility please email the Clerk to
the Council.
Monks Eleigh Parish Council has seven councillors and a part
time
employee (Clerk) who deals with all administrative and
financial
matters.
Following the elections of May 2007 the Parish
Councillors for Monks Eleigh,
along with their areas of responsibility, are as follows:

The Council meets every two months in Monks Eleigh Village
Hall
with additional meetings being held following notification.Each
meeting
commences at 7.30pm. The members of the public are invited to
attend
each meeting and time is set aside for a public forum.
The Annual Parish Meeting is held in March and the Annual
Council
Meeting (at which the Chairman and Vice-Chairman are elected
for
the following year) in May.
The local government year runs from 1st April to
31st March and the period of office
of the Chairman and Vice-Chairman start at the Annual Parish
Council Meeting.
Notice of all meetings and agendas are placed on the Parish
Notice
Boards situated outside The Community Shop, The Street and on
Swingleton
Green, Swingleton Hill.
The precept for 2007/8 is £9230 whilst the precept for 2008/9
has been agreed at £9500.

the current year (2007/8) and the forthcomming year is available on

The estimated population at mid 2005 was 440 and
the equivalent council tax
Band D was £1,338.52.
District Councillor Clive Arthey and County Councillor Jeremy
Pembroke attend meetings regularly keeping the Parish Councillors
informed at both District and County level.
A member of the West Babergh Safer Neighbourhood
Team also regularly attend meetings and where unable so to do keep
the Council informed by means of a written report.
