North Lowestoft Mow & Grow is an initiative to bring Mow & Grow back home to where it first originated. The pilot for Mow & Grow begun in Lowestoft and was always intended to be based in Lowestoft. But with the Norwich City branch taking off so quickly it soon overshadowed the Lowestoft pilot.

Now after 2 years work North Lowestoft Mow & Grow was set up to replicate the hugely successful Norwich City Scheme.
Based at its training centre (see below), the North Lowestoft Fairshare Lottery , Awards for All, Mow & Grow, and Suffolk County council have all contributed to bring the scheme back to its birthplace.
 

 

Our training centre and UK headquarters is currently up and running and  the new scheme for tenants will offer a free service to vulnerable tenants in North Lowestoft from January 2009.

Working in partnership with Suffolk County social services, North Lowestoft Mow & Grow now runs an independent project for mental health service users at the Mow & Grow House training centre. This project includes training in master composting, and has already helped divert over 35 tons of green waste from landfill or burning in 2008. The project links up with GY Woodstock in Great Yarmouth, who build our compost bays from recycled wood (which would of  gone to landfill / burning), and constructed by mental health service users in Great Yarmouth.

Service users from this group can then progress through to joining the Mow & Grow away teams in North Lowestoft, which provide free gardening service to vulnerable people in the Lowestoft community.
