May 2007 saw the launch
of Norwich City Council and Mow & Grow joined forces in a
new partnership to set up Norwich City Mow & Grow. The
project was set up to help the gardening needs of vulnerable
people in the Norwich City area and cleared and maintained
over 570 gardens in its first year.
The scheme will see referrals from professional
bodies across Norwich City forwarded to the Neighbourhood housing
officers who decide on the priority of each case before being
passed onto the Mow & Grow Rangers.

How does it work?
Each client once informed they are eligible for the service
chooses there own password for security purposes and will then be
contacted by the Mow & Grow team within 10 days to confirm an
appointment.
Who are the Mow & Grow Rangers?
The Mow & Grow rangers are CRB (criminal record bureau)
checked volunteers and staff with the police and are fully insured
up to £5 million pounds worth of public liability insurance. They
are fully trained in the use of machinery (we use petrol driven
machinery so we have no need to use your electricity) and are
supervised by fully experienced garden coordinators.
What happens to the green waste?
All our senior staff are trained Master Composters. We take away
all your green waste, and shred your green waste turning it into
compost. 100% environmentally friendly, and organic without the
need for any burning helping to protect our environment.
The scheme has 3 services available to Norwich City
residents:
- One off garden clearance: Eligible referrals will have a
£15 one off charge.
- Maintenance Service (optional): Once A garden has had
its initial clearance residents can sign up to a regular garden
