Our priorities
-
The best for safety, health and well being
Our commitment to safety is clear and both
volunteers and clients can feel reassured about the extensive
controls we put in place to manage safety, health and well being
throughout Mow & Grow.
Reducing the use of pesticides in gardening using
natural alternatives, wherever possible, are key targets in further
minimising our impact on the environment.
The success of our business depends on how effectively we
serve our customers and respond
to their concerns. Our gardening service should be easy, effective
and sustainable, and colleagues in our teams should be ambassadors
for our service.
Our future relies on our volunteers and Mow & Grow is only ever
as good as them. As a result we invest heavily in our teams
training, development and well being and support.
-
Respect for our environment
We recognise the role of business in delivering on the UK’s
commitment to reduce energy consumption under the Kyoto Agreement.
We believe that energy efficiency can be good for
our business as well as helping safeguard the environment. We are
committed to recycling and reducing waste wherever
possible. Wherever pratical we will endeavour to recycle and reuse
as many products as possible to avoid the carbon footprint we make
on our environment.
-
Sourcing with integrity
Our clients increasingly want organic gardening methods. They want
to know that there gardens are being treated well.
Supporting organisations such as Organic Garden and
Thrive help us meet these demands as part of our long-term
approach to sustainable gardening methods. We also have a
long-standing commitment to animal welfare.
-
Make a positive difference to our community
We want to be at the very heart of the communities in which we are
present. In 2006/07 our approach has been to ensure we are a
consistently considerate good neighbour and to
demonstrate our support for local communities by
offering advise, support and practical help wherever possible.
-
A great place to work
Mow & Grows involved over 100 volunteers and staff across its
schemes in the UK. Our commitment to their training and development
includes engaging them in our vision for success,
customer choice and community support.
Our recruitment and retention policy is built on
valuing colleague diversity on ethnicity, gender and age, so that
we have colleagues who are treated fairly and can meet the needs of
our
customers.
