Manchester Trade &
Grow
When inspirational social
entrepreneurs Trevor Lynn & Tom McManus met in the autumn of
2008 great things were destined to happen.
Tom’s vision of running a trade
skills based project combined with Trevor experience of accredited
training led to Brighter Futures joining the Grow consortium
under the Trade & Grow umbrella.
Brighter Futures provides “hard to
reach” youths with employment and accredited training opportunities
within the construction industry. It has established a successful
track record of working with youths leading to positive behavoiur
changes. Currently working with 40+ youth per month, a staff of
four people Brighter Futures is bracing itself for an anticipated
expansion in its level of provision through its new partnerships
with organisations such as Connexions and local councils.
Claire Trotman of the Grow
Organisation UK said,” Careers in engineering or
construction give you the chance to affect the world we live in,
while plumbing and information technology let you improve the way
we live. In any case, you'll gain hands-on practical knowledge,
expertise in an area you're interested in and the chance to think
creatively.
At Brighter Futures you'll face new
challenges every day and could end up taking your skills all around
the world. And because this type of work is always in demand,
you'll probably be able to work until you want to stop. But that's
not all. At Brighter Futures we also deliver accredited
qualifications..... with this training means you'll be free to
become self-employed, which gives you the chance to enjoy your
work, without neglecting your life.
