Sadly, the bright airy place that was Cafe Allegro is no more, replaced by this bold, brash and basic diner (another one of their venues can be found on the A140 north of Long Stratton, on the site of the defunkt Little Chef).  On the positive side, the food is filling and freshly cooked and the service friendly.  But don't expect sophistication or style.

The teaming of bookshop with coffee shop is a modern day phenomenon in our larger towns and cities, with Starbucks/Borders and Ottakers/Costa tie-ups appearing to be particularly successful.  Diss Publishing completed major rebuilding works in 2005 which has now brought a very pleasant bookshop cafe to Diss.  .

info   Finish your visit to Bloom's shop or the Bressingham Steam museum by popping into their Into food café, which serves a varied menu to suit most tastes. The 200-seated café has two patio-decked areas, one with superb views across to the Dell garden and the other a more secluded covered area with a water feature.  Both have shelter from the rain.

info  Redgrave and Lopham Fen can be reached from the B1113, or the A1066. From the B1113, the reserve is situated between Redgrave and South Lopham, and from the A1066 between South Lopham and Bressingham. The Visitor Centre is open 10am-5pm on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year. Refreshments available include a range of tea and coffee and a small range of snacks including sandwiches and cakes. info   No children younger than age 9 allowed in the evening session and all children must remain seated at all times, or be closely accompanied by a parent.  The restaurant is a non smoking area, but they do allow smoking in the lounge. Opens at 12 noon and close at 3:30 and then reopens at 7:00pm and closes at 11:00pm. Fresh produce used so dishes change frequently, but always vegetarian options. Contact restaurant manager Sarah for details of current menus.
