Updated 2nd June 2009

Parts of Woodbridge Thoroughfare will be closed to vehicular traffic from Monday 9th February 2009 for up to 6 weeks.

This closure is to enable Suffolk Highways Contracting to carry out re-bedding work to the granite kerb stones along the northern side of the Thoroughfare between the junction with New Street and the pedestrian walkway leading to Costa Coffee.

This work is required in order to provide a long term solution to the problem of loose and breaking kerb stones which are causing trip hazards.

Works are planned to take place between 9.30 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. Monday to Friday and should be carried out in 10 metre sections, with approximately 20 metres carried out each week.

Pedestrian access along the entire Thoroughfare will be maintained at all times with pedestrian access to premises within the works area maintained by temporary walkways.

There will be restricted parking in the Thoroughfare whilst the works are underway.  However access for business deliveries will be maintained.  Turning areas will be provided for cars and light vehicles, however, larger vehicles which deliver during the day may have to reverse in order to exit the Thoroughfare.  Suffolk County Council have advised that it would therefore be helpful if as far as possible deliveries can be carried out before 9.00 a.m. or after 4.00 p.m.

Suffolk County Council plans to suspend works at weekends allowing vehicular and pedestrian access as normal.
