A
new style induction event for staff joining Suffolk’s Children’s
Workforce
will be taking place in North Suffolk on Tuesday 16 March 2010, High Lodge,

(click on Multi agency courses and then on Induction). The induction ½ day
programmes will be followed by a ‘market place’ which is for all members
of the Children and Young People’s Workforce. This will offer a great
opportunity for all agencies to display and raise awareness of their service

Procurement Training about the Tender Process.
Suffolk County Council is working in partnership with SAVO and Young Suffolk to
offer free training to support local organisations to tender for service
contracts with Suffolk County Council. The next available course date is
15th July at 9.30 to 4.30 at Suffolk County Council, Endeavour House,
Ipswich. Places on this workshop are limited to one person per organisation

Are
you a trustee or wanting to become one?

day OCN (Open College Network) accredited trustee training programme to learn
all there is to know and more about the role of trustees in charities. The
training will be delivered by Gill Robinson and Sandra Jarvis of EEtec.
Wednesday 24th February 2010 and Wednesday 24th March 2010 9.30am to 4.00pm at
Volunteer Centre Bury St Edmunds, 86 Whiting Street, Bury St Edmunds. Free, but

WOULD
YOU LIKE A GRANT? If
you are a community group the Suffolk Foundation could help to support your
cause. GRASSROOTS GRANTS PROGRAMME has grants up to £5000 available for
core costs and projects. Next close is 20 February. This is a ‘quick decision’
programme for groups with under £30,000 income. The next closing date for
Healthy Ambitions is 25 March and for Single Gateway 16 March. For details go to

Young Carers Grant Programme 2010
provides
£1.5million for work with the most isolated and vulnerable young carers. For

The
Strategic Partner Programme is
part of the Third Sector Investment Programme is now open to voluntary
organisations. Eligible applicants have been extended to reach and engage
with third sector organisations working in and with Mental Health organisations,
Women' Sector organisations, Carers organisations, Armed Forces and Veterans
Charities, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender organisations, Offender Health
and Social Care organisations. The deadline for receipt of applications is 12

for young people aged 3-25, organized by The Children’s Rights Team @ Suffolk
County Council. It runs activities and social events for young people in

Services. This could involve: Speaking up about a problem ; Giving us
advice on posters, leaflets or projects ; Interviewing new staff ; Planning

this year’s Tellus survey. Tellus is a national survey which gathers
children and young people’s views on their life, their school and their

Secretary John Denham has commented on the importance of the third sector.
Mr Denham said, "In the quest for leaner more efficient services we still

national statistics from the Citizenship Survey. Statistics from the
Citizenship Survey include data covering a range of issues including
community cohesion, empowerment, values, racial and religious prejudice

The
Department For Children, Schools And Families has launched an internet
safety campaign ‘Click Clever, Click Safe’. The campaign launch comes
alongside a new survey of young people which shows that many parents still
aren’t talking to their children about internet safety; and yet the
average 6-14 year old communicates with more than 1,100 people online in a
