Fashion & Textile Children’s
Trust funding available
to young people - Applications from parents / carers on behalf of their child,
providing they can answer ‘yes’ to; Is the young person under the age of
18 yrs? Has the parent or full time carer of the young person worked in UK
fashion / textile* for a minimum of one year. Is there a case of
need? How would the grant make a real difference to the young person?
*Please note that the term, ‘fashion and textile’ covers all aspects of the
industry including department stores, (Next, BHS etc), head office, call centre,
warehouse, manufacturer, distribution centre supplier, soft furnishings etc.

Thinking About Social Enterprise? on 1 February 2012
A ½ day introductory course is designed to offer help and advice to
get ideas off the ground whether you are thinking of setting up a new
organisation or developing an existing one at BRIGHTSPACE, Ipswich at 10 to 1pm.

& Starting a Social Enterprise - 22 February 2012 Designed to
focus on participants social enterprise ideas and provide practical advice on
how to get it set up, this course will enable you to understand your current
situation and examine ways to turn your ideas into a fully functioning social

Social Enterprise Legal Structures - 7 March 2012 Aimed at individuals or organisations who want to find
out more about social enterprise legal structures, this course is particularly
useful for people wanting to set up their own social enterprise but is also
appropriate for existing organisations looking at becoming a social enterprise.

Business Plans – 28 March 2012 This course is suitable for individuals and/or organisations that
need to write a realistic, functional and useable business plan.

Adolescent
Mental Health: Building Resilience event on
8th February at UCS. Full details are available through Suffolk County Council
CPD online booking at www.suffolkcpd.co.uk -
course code MA 12/047. Keynote speakers will be of national recognition with
afternoon workshops: local research, projects & services. Aim of the event
is to develop the skills to support young people to have positive mental health
and be resilient, to be aware of current research on adolescent brain
development and implications for practice, to understand some of the different
approaches to working with young people therapeutically and be able to apply the
principles in practice, to know about some of the services working with young
people and their families in the region and be able to access these when
required, to learn about some of the resources and programmes for young people
and know how to find out more if needed.
Understanding
The Tender Process Free
Procurement Training - Suffolk County Council is working in partnership
with Young Suffolk, SAVO and the Suffolk Children’s Trust Integrated Training
Programme, to offer training free of charge about the tender
process. The training is provided to support local organisations to
tender for service contracts with Suffolk County Council. The next course is
Monday 20th February 2012 at 9.30 to 4.00pm in Ipswich. Places on
each workshop may be limited to one per organisation subject to demand. For

Children’s Workforce Development Council and Children England are delighted to
be working together to support the voluntary and community sector that works
with children and young people sector with this informative regional seminar.
The seminar will focus on key areas identified as current workforce priorities

Opportunities & Children's Activities. TOPCATS now hold the lease on the
Morton youth building, Morton Road, Pakefield, Suffolk. The centre is to be

SUFFOLK Domestic Abuse Forum Conference 2012 on
22nd March 2012 at 9am to 5pm at Needham Market Community. The

February and March 2012. With rising youth unemployment we have more need
than ever to engage with the business and the community to support young people

landscaper or gardener and progression onto a full apprenticeship. The course is

I Made This is a charity working with young people with learning
difficulties Their work involves the use of computers to produce animated films,
video documentaries, and music projects. They would like to recruit volunteers
to help with this work. Some knowledge of Mac computers and Final Cut,
Logic and Stop Frame Animation software would be an advantage but we will
give full training. Successful volunteers may be recruited as future
facilitators. The charity is based near Bungay in Suffolk. Please e mail

Home-Start Babergh is a registered local charity, providing
confidential support to families who are suffering difficulties and who
have at least one child under 5 years of age. As a Home-Start Babergh Volunteer
you will: Provide 1-2-1 home-visiting support to a family for 2-3 hours per
week, Join 50-60 existing volunteers, Receive on-going training opportunities,
Receive regular support from your Co-ordinator, Make lots of new friends, Be
able to claim expenses. Our Preparation Course for New Volunteers commences on:
Friday 9th March from 10 am - 2pm running over a 10 week period
