Film Locations Wanted

Suffolk Coastal has teamed up with ScreenEast, who are the agency responsible for promoting, developing and supporting the film and media industries in the East of England. They want to hear from people who own a building or land worthy of appearing on the big screen to help encourage more location filming to take place in the district.

Large buildings, period properties, modern properties and vacant and derelict industrial buildings are all in demand for use in films, adverts and television. If anyone in your parish owns something they think might be suitable, they can contact ScreenEast for more information by visiting www.screeneast.co.uk or phoning 01923 495051. They are also compiling a list of businesses in the service industry that could be useful to production teams, such as florists, caterers and drycleaners.

Affordable Housing

Six houses are now bieng built by Hastoe for occupancy in early summer 2010 opposite "The Laurels" on The Street Nacton. Anyone interested in viewing the plans or taken on one of the properties (two for shared ownership and four for rent) should contact the Parish Clerk. Elibility rules apply.

Local Development Framework

The Local Development Framework (LDF) is the name given to the 25 year plan of where  housing, industrial installations, and so on may be built in the future. While Suffolk Coastal District Council have only allocated one very small site in the Nacton Ward huge changes are proposed in the surrounding areas - especially The Trimleys, Purdis Farm,  and Martlesham.  These will impact us with traffic, schooling, water supplies and so on. If you are at all interested in what this peninsular may look like in the future come to The Cricket Pavilion on Thursday 5th February where the documents will be available, or click here
