Needham Market Internet Café

Led by Tom Barker, Director of Needham Market Internet Café Community Interest Company, Needham Market Internet Café opened it’s doors on the 24th September 2007, providing free computer access via high-speed Internet. The café also aims to offer a growing selection of snacks and hot drinks all at reasonable prices.
All computers have software installed for working with office and graphics files, plus USB ports for easy file storage. Users can also bring their own laptop and take advantage of the Internet connection for which there is no charge.
Located in the back room of the Youth Centre, between the Community Centre and the Library, access is via the side entrance to the building.
The club aims to improve access to computers and the Internet for everybody in Needham Market and the surrounding area. Any individuals with skills or ideas that can help to achieve this are encouraged to either come and see Tom and his team or get in touch. All contact details and further information, including opening times, can be found on the website at: www.needhaminternetcafe.org

Needham Market Neighbourhood Watch Scheme

The Needham Market Neighbourhood Watch Scheme was formed in 1991.  A constitution was agreed and a committee formed.
The overall aim of the scheme was to improve community safety in the Needham Market area and the main objectives were:

  • To prevent crime by improving security, increasing vigilance and protecting the most vulnerable members of the community by encouraging a caring community spirit.
  • To help with the detection of criminals by promoting effective communication.
  • To reduce the undue fear of crime by providing accurate information about risks, supporting victims and promoting a sense of security and a caring community.
  • To improve police / community relations by fostering regular contact and liaison.

In order to do this the members would issue and distribute information and advice, promote and organize activities, raise funds and other resources and take action which may benefit the scheme.  To operate effectively, a Watch Scheme is dependant on coordinators to implement and promote various initiatives put forward by the committee and the Police Force.  Needham Market has eight coordinators with a job description approved by the Suffolk Constabulary.  The coordinators and the areas that they cover are shown below.
To become a member of the Needham Market Neighbourhood Watch just contact your area cordinator who will provide you with a membership form.
