Newlarks Residents Association was set up
September 1994 to help build a partnership between Orwell Housing
Association (OHA) and their tenants. Prompting the tenant’s
participation to take an active interest in Orwell’s work and
committees makes for a much better relationship between landlord
and tenant.
We cover St Catherines Court, Newnham Court and
Woodlark Close which are estates off Cambridge Drive in
Ipswich.
Since the committee has been formed we have been
pro-active in various improvements, which have been made throughout
the estates of St Catherines Court, Newnham Court and Woodlark
Close; car park security lighting, replacing of prickly bushes to a
more child (and bike tyre!) friendly variety, landscaping and
tending of the communal gardens, fencing off communal gardens to
make a more individual and safer place for the children to play, to
mention but a few.
For being a recognised residents association OHA
award us with a annual Amenity Fund, which from this year has risen
to £1,250, in past years this has purchased notice boards, litter
bins, communal fencing and play equipment for the holiday club.
This year we installed additional security lighting for our more
vulnerable car parking areas.
During the school holidays we hold a very well
attended holiday club twice a week for the children of the estates,
the children love this and it prevents them getting too bored in
the long summer school holiday which in turn stops them turning to
destruction on and disruption in the estates.
Updated September 2006 – from September Newlarks Residents
Association covers only St Catherines Court and Woodlark Close,
after Newnham Court formed their own committee ‘Newnham Court
Community Group’ their main focuses are children’s activities
(Halloween & Christmas parties) and estate improvements which
have already commenced by landscaping the rear communal area’s and
planting shrubs and grasses in the estate.
Updated November 2006 - Play area updates see 'play area
