Brandeston Hall School’s Under 13 Netball Team has completed an
astonishing record of results. The girls have not been beaten in
school matches since their first match as Under 9s in January 2005
and as a team, they have gone to win an incredible 33 matches
consecutively since, having unbeaten seasons in 2006, 2007 and
2008. The girls have scored 603 points and have conceded just
204.
Coach, Keely Ball, said-"During the term the team has worked
incredibly hard. Their skills have gone from strength to strength
and the girls have always applied maximum effort in match
play".
Great credit must go to the superb passing by Jasmine Lawson and
Lydia Green who consistently and accurately fed the dynamic
shooting pair of Camilla Hopkinson and Victoria Jenkins. The number
of goals scored has been simply amazing! An average of 29 per
match! However, it must be noted that every single member of the
squad has contributed to the first team’s outstanding results. They
have been a pleasure to coach and should be delighted with a very
successful term.
The girls also reached the National Netball Finals for the third
year running, having finished as one of the top two schools in East
Anglia in the IAPS Netball Finals for each of the last three
years.
The girls have proved to be a very good all-round group of
sportswomen. Lydia Green, Jasmine Lawson, Victoria Jenkins, Katie
Wilkinson and Susannah Reid have all represented Suffolk at
Cross-Country running, Lydia, Jasmine and Susannah have also
reached the the National Athletics Finals at Javelin, 70m hurdles
and 1,500 metres respectively, Milly Hopkinson (Camilla), Lucy
Pring, Jasmine and twin sister Eve have also represented Suffolk at
Hockey and Lydia is also County Tennis and Nationally ranked tennis
player.
The Master of Brandeston Hall, Mr Martin Myers-Allen, said "What
an astonishing run of results for such an incredibly talented group
of youngsters. The girls have had another wonderful season and
their achievements are a testament to their tremendous efforts and
the wonderful dedication of their coaches Keely Ball and Sally
Thomson."
