Branislav Henselmann takes on new role at the East of
England’s dance organisation
DanceEast, the national dance organisation for the East of
England, has announced the appointment of Branislav Henselmann as
the new Head of Programming and Learning.
Branislav joins DanceEast from New York City Ballet’s
Choreographic Institute where he worked as Artistic Curator since
2005.
Branislav was born in Germany and trained in dance at the
Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance in London and at
the Merce Cunningham Foundation in New York, graduating with a
Masters degree in dance and business administration from New York
University in 2006. He also took part in DanceEast’s recent Rural
Retreat, for aspiring leaders and artistic directors in the world
of dance, in January 2009.
He joins DanceEast at a crucial and exciting time in the
organisation’s 25 year history. The £8.6 million Jerwood
DanceHouse will be completed in Autumn 2009, giving dance in
the East of England its own state-of-the-art facilities and studio
theatre.
The DanceHouse will also be home to the DanceEast Academy, the
new government funded regional centre for advanced training in
dance. The Jerwood DanceHouse will be the cultural cornerstone in
the largest urban regeneration project in the East of England,
currently transforming the Ipswich waterfront.
DanceEast is the national dance organisation for the East of
England, bringing internationally-renowned dance companies to
theatres across the region and co-ordinating an extensive community
dance class programme, supporting regional dance and advanced dance
training in East Anglia.
Assis Carreiro, Chief Executive and Artistic Director at
DanceEast is thrilled with Branislav’s appointment “We are
delighted to have Branislav joining the team at such an exciting
time. He brings a wealth of experience and an abundance of
enthusiasm. We have so much happening in the coming years, not only
with the opening of our new DanceHouse but also with our extensive
new programme of commissions, residencies and performances and
bringing world-renowned dance artists to the
region.”
