A rich and varied crop of artistic work will go on show this weekend when the year-long Art Farming project comes to fruition at Easton Farm Park.

Ten budding young artists, aged from seven to 17, have been attending a monthly Saturday session that has helped cultivate their skills and nurture their talents.

“Art Farming  has been a great opportunity to learn new skills and push ideas, and has seen the youngsters working with Bryony Graham and Suzy Berry who have helped them develop their own unique styles, interests and creativity,” said Cllr Mary Neale, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Countryside.

“I am really looking forward to getting to see the exhibition which will feature one piece of art from each of the young people, chosen by them and created specifically for this event.

“I am assured that the resulting crop of art works is real treasure, and a credit to everyone who has been involved. I hope as many people as possible will visit the exhibition over the coming week,” added Cllr Neale.

The exhibition will open on Easter Saturday, March 22 and run until March 29. The first 500 young people who visit will also get a souvenir booklet about Art Farming, with helpful tips and some pages on which to practice.

The project has also encouraged all the family to be involved, and during the year around 30 artists have tried their hand. The Art Farming project has been a partnership of Arts Framlingham and Suffolk Coastal, with help from Awards for All and Easton Farm Park.

“Our bunch of enthusiastic and hardy Art Farmers have used the farm and the farming year as their inspiration, and have had to cope with all the worst that the weather has thrown at them during the last year,” said Bryony Graham.

“It has been a fantastic project to be involved in. We have been using a barn as a studio, and like our local farmers have had to work in fair and foul weather, but their enthusiasm has seen them defeat the elements and produce a crop of works that really does them proud,” added Ms Graham.

This Saturday is also Farmers’ Market day at Easton Farm Park, so any visitors in the morning can see the best of local produce on sale as well as taking in the rich artistic harvest of these young and talented artists.
