Next month there is a half-day training course aimed at managers
of food catering businesses who would like further help on how to
put the systems in place in their workplace that will deliver safer
food and a better business.
Suffolk Coastal is running a series of low-cost Safer Food,
Better Business (SFBB) workshops for food managers in the district
with the next taking place on Tuesday, June 3.
“When the new food safety legislation came into force, we
offered a free package of support under the banner of SFBB and many
businesses across the county benefited from this initiative,” said
Councillor Sherrie Green, Cabinet Member for Community
Well-being.
“Since January 2006 over 260,000 SFBB packs have been
distributed nationally by the Food Standards Agency and, although
designed to be an easy to use tool, we are offering these follow-up
workshops for managers who want further guidance in using the
catering pack, or who would like to pick up some tips on the
easiest way to get a system in place.
“The workshops will be run by an independent tutor who is highly
experienced at coaching businesses in the use of the SFBB and they
are open to small catering businesses such as restaurants, pubs,
cafes, takeaways, hotels and wine bars. Our routine
inspections have shown huge improvements in food safety standards
in businesses that have implemented SFBB.” continued Councillor
Green.
The next workshop will be held on Tuesday, June 3 at Suffolk
Coastal’s Melton Hill offices from 10am - 1pm and the cost is £35
per person which includes tuition, supporting materials and light
refreshments. A certificate of attendance will be issued to
each delegate.
Pre-booking is essential as the number of places on the workshop is
