Large boats will be on the move through the
county on May 11th, 14th, 18th and
25th May. The details are as follows:
May
11th
On 11th May a yacht will be moved from Wroxham to
Foxs' marina at Wherstead arriving in Suffolk on the A11 at
Thetford about 9.30 am. It will be 18' wide, 17' 8" high, 90' long
and weigh 76 tons and will use the following route:
Enter Suffolk and continue on the A11.
turn left onto the A1304.
turn onto the B1506 towards Kentford.
turn left onto the A14 (to pass under railway
bridge at Bury St Edmunds keep as far as possible to offside for
maximum clearance) ..... then continue A14 to Stowmarket
turn left A1308 through Stowmarket
continue B1113 through Needham Market to Gt
Blakenham
turn right (still B1113 & contraflow to end
of dual carriageway)*
continue through Lorraine Way Bramford and
Sproughton village
turn left A1071 to Holiday Inn Hotel
turn right A1214 to A14
turn left A14 towards Felixstowe keeping to
offside when passing under bridges on A14
turn left onto A137
continue onto B1456 towards Shotley
turn left into Foxs’ Marina
* this is because the load will not pass under
the bridges at junc 52 on the A14
May 14th
Abbey Transport are moving another big boat
through Suffolk on Wednesday, 14th May 2008 and it will be escorted
by Suffolk police officers.
It will be 5.4m (17' 9”) wide, 5.85m (19' 3")
high, 24.86 (81') long and weigh 59000kgs.
It will be leaving Quy in Cambridgeshire at 9am
and using the following route:
It will take the A1303 towards Newmarket and turn
left unclassified road to Swaffham Bulbeck then the B1102 to
Burwell.
Turn right B1103 towards Exning.
Turn left to Windmill Hill and turn right A142 to
Newmarket clock tower.
Turn left A1304 towards Kentford and turn right
B1506 (back via Cambridgeshire) through Kentford and pass under the
A14 to join A14 towards Bury St Edmunds.
(to pass under railway bridge on the A14 at Bury
St Edmunds keep as far as possible to offside for maximum
clearance) ..... then continue on the A14 to Stowmarket.
Turn left A1308 through Stowmarket and continue
on the B1113 through Needham market to Gt Blakenham.
Turn right (still the B1113 & contraflow to
end of dual carriageway)* and then continue through Lorraine Way,
Bramford and Sproughton village to the A1071 road.
Turn left A1071 to the A1214 near the Holiday Inn
hotel.
Turn left A1214 into Ipswich and turn right A137
West End Road and follow one-way system to Bridge Street to enter
Haven Marina from Bridge Street prior to Stoke Bridge.
- this is because the load will not pass under the
bridges under the A14 road at the Claydon interchange (junc
52)
May 18th
On 18th, a yacht will be moved from

Ashmanhaugh, Norfolk to Southampton arriving in Suffolk on the A140
Norfolk border at Scole about 9.30 am. It will be a yacht mould at
20' wide, 16' high, 98' long and weigh 43 tons. It will be using
the A140, A14 & A12 roads through Suffolk.
May 25th
On 25th May a boat mould will be moved from
Colchester to Wroxham, Norfolk arriving in Suffolk on the A12 Essex
border about 10 am. It will be a boat mould at 18'9" wide, 16' 3"
high, 81' long and weighing 38 tons. It will use the A12, A14 and
A140 roads to
Norfolk.
