land within the Parish boundaries is approximately 2200
acres. The village is divided by the A134 which is the
main road between Sudbury, 3 miles in the north, and

External Audit 2007 to 2008
BDO Stoy Hayward LLP, the external auditor for Newton Parish
Council, has now completed the audit for the year ending 31st March
2008.

Newton Tree Warden
After 20 years loyal service as the village’s tree warden, Harry
Buckledee has announced his decision to retire. NPC would like to
hear from anybody interested in following Harry’s footsteps and to
find out more about the role please contact Harry or the Clerk.

The Boundary Committee has issued its
draft proposal for unitary local government in Suffolk, a summary

Quality Status gained by Newton Parish Council
Newton Parish Council has become the 11th council
in Suffolk to meet the required standard under the Quality Parish
and Town Council Scheme set by the National Association of Local
Councils. Newton now joins Sudbury Town Council as the only
accredited councils in the Babergh District.
The Quality Parish Council Award is proof of the hard work and
commitment by members and staff to a standard of excellence in
public service. The Quality Status certificate was presented
by the Suffolk Association of Local Councils to NPC at the Annual
Parish Assembly on 16th April 2008.
