The village of Newton is scattered around a green
of some 40 acres, which forms 8 holes of the Newton Green Golf
Club. The total land within the Parish boundaries is
approximately 2200 acres. The village is divided by the
A134 which is the main road between Sudbury, 3 miles in the

Next Meeting of Newton Parish Council
Newton Parish Council have now received
the new planning appication in respect to Chilton Quarry which will
be reviewed by the council at an extra meeting to be held on
Wednesday 30th July 2008 at 7.30pm in Newton Village
Hall.

In
addition to the new planning application for Chilton Quarry (see
above), Suffolk County Council has notified Newton Parish
Council that Brett Aggregates have
lodged an appeal with the Planning
Inspectorate against Suffolk County Council's refusal of the
original planning application for Chilton
Quarry.
Newton Parish Council will update residents
on the appeal process once papers have been
received.
Boundary Committee draft proposals for
unitary local government in Suffolk
The Boundary Committee has issued its
draft proposal for unitary local government in Suffolk, a summary

and you have until 26th September 2008 to make your views known to
the Boundary Committee. For further information on the

Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator

forward to become the new Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator for

Quality Status gained by Newton Parish Council
Newton Parish Council has become the 11th council
in Suffolk to meet the required standard under the Quality Parish
and Town Council Scheme set by the National Association of Local
Councils. Newton now joins Sudbury Town Council as the only
accredited councils in the Babergh District.
The Quality Parish Council Award is proof of the hard work and
commitment by members and staff to a standard of excellence in
public service. The Quality Status certificate was presented
by the Suffolk Association of Local Councils to NPC at the Annual
Parish Assembly on 16th April 2008.
