To date Suffolk County Council's Development Control Committee
has rejected both applications by Brett Aggregates for a quarry at
Chilton with access from the A134. The first application
proposed an access by a right turn T junction and the second via a
roundabout. In both cases the DCC considered the impact on
the safety to the A134 road users and the road network to be the
reasons for refusal.
APPEAL AGAINST THE
REFUSALS
The Planning Inspectorate has informed Newton
Parish Council that Brett Aggregates has withdrawn its appeal
against the refusal of the first planning application for Chilton
Quarry. Brett has 6 months to raise an appeal against
the second planning application's refusal if it so wishes.
Newton Parish Council will keep you updated on any further
news.
ACTION COMMITTEE
Peter Clifford, Chairman of Chilton Parish
Council, has formed an Action Committee in order to raise the
profile of the community’s objection to the quarry proposals. There
are Newton residents on the committee who will be contacting
residents in relation to specific plans. If you want to offer any
help to the committee please contact Peter on 01787 371798 or
