Myths about Pension Credit

"I can't claim - I've got savings"

Not True! There is no cut-off point for savings for Pension Credit, although savings you have will effect the amount of Pension Credit you get. Get advice to find out how

"I can't claim - I've got a private pension"

Pension Credit does not take your provate pension into account, but in some cases a provate pension can mean you get more money not less. You need to speak to an advisor to find out how much extra you could get

"If I claim Pension Credit I will lose other benefits"

Not necessarily true! In most cases Pension Credit means you get more of other benefits, like Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit. All in all you won't be worse off by claiming Pension Credit, and you could be much better off, so find out if you qualify

It’s easy to get advice about benefits, and getting the right advice at the right time can make all the difference.
