I found myself confined to home, due to an on-going bad back. As
I was unable to get out and about as I had been use to it gave me
an insight into what life must be like for the elderly; how long
the days are and each one the same. You look forward to someone
calling in or a phone call. It is very satisfying to know that the
people I phone enjoy our chats and a laugh, as much as I do. I know
that it’s only a small thing I do twice weekly but to the people I
talk to it’s quite a life-line. One elderly gent, when asked how he
knew it was always me on the phone said it was the only phone call
he ever has and having not been out of his flat for three years he
looked forward to hearing from me.
So for me Claire it has given me satisfaction, joy and a feeling
of being needed outside the needs of my own family.
