Ingredients
- Enough shortcrust pastry for the base and lid of a pie
dish
- 4 oz pig fat cut into small pieces
- 2 ozs Sultanas
- 2 ozs Apples (peeled, cored and cut-up)
- 1 oz Brown Sugar
- Ground Spice to taste
Method
- Melt down the pig fat in a saucepan.
- Pour off the excess melted fat for other uses and add the other
ingredients to the pan, (sultanas, apples, sugar, spice).
- Mix together.
- Line a well greased pie dish with short crust pastry and pour
in the mixture.
- Put some more pastry on the top to form the pie lid and seal
down the edges.
- Brush the top of the pie with dissolved sugar (sugar in water)
and bake in a moderate oven.
Delicious served warm with custard or cream.
