Otley Community Wind Turbine Survey Results
Otley Parish Council, in conjunction with OtleyGreen, carried out a survey of the village in May to establish the support for a community wind turbine project proposed by OtleyGreen. 74% of surveys distributed were collected and of those there was a clear majority of 68% in favour of a community wind turbine and 65% favoured the site at Otley College. The Parish Council did not support, or was aware, of the OtleyGreen leaflet distributed just prior to the questionnaires.
Despite the results of the survey the Parish Council felt that the community wind turbine project was dividing the village and harming the community spirit that was so clearly indicated in the recent Parish Plan as being one of the key benefits of living in Otley. Whilst previous projects by OtleyGreen have united the village the Parish Council felt it could not support this project because of the division and voted not to support any wind turbine within the Parish of Otley.
Walks Around Otley
Otley Parish Council has produced a leaflet that describes two walks around Otley, one of 3.6 miles and the other 2.7 miles. The leaflet shows a map of the footpath routes used and a supporting written description together with some local information. Affordable Housing
As one of the action points arising from the Parish Plan the Otley PC have consulted with Suffolk Acre and have carried out a Housing Needs Survey in early May 2010. Otley PC have funded the survey with Suffolk Acre providing the questionnaires and data analysis. We have now received the Housing Needs Survey report and will be discussing it and deciding the next steps at the next Parish Council meeting in September.
