The 2011 Census questionnaire will be coming through your
letterbox next spring.
On 27 March 2011 all residential households in the United Kingdom
will be taking part in a census. Since 1801 (apart from in 1941
during the war) a day has been chosen every ten years for this
purpose. The census provides an excellent source of information
about the population. This enables central and local government,
health authorities and many other organisations to plan housing,
education, health and transport services for years to come.
The census statistics feed into resource allocation for local
authorities and play a major part in their ability to provide local
services, so it is crucial the population estimate is as accurate
as possible. When the questionnaire envelope comes through the door
you’ll easily recognise it by the purple 2011 Census logo. Take
care of it. If, like many people, you want to complete the
questionnaire online, your individual internet code is on the front
of the questionnaire.
More information about the 2011 Census is available online at:
www.census.gov.uk
The census is also recruiting staff to help ensure a high census
return rate. There are part-time and full-time jobs and you would
be able to work close to where you live. To find out more, or to
apply for a job, visit
www.censusjobs.co.uk or
contact your local jobcentre.
CRUSE BEREAVEMENT
CARE
Suffolk Area
Could you help bereaved
people?
We
are now recruiting volunteers to help us in our work with bereaved
people in the North Suffolk and Great Yarmouth area.
A training course for potential volunteers starts on Saturday 18th
September at the Friends' Meeting House in Beccles. The course is
divided into 16 three-hour sessions and the first session is
followed by four further Saturdays and six Monday evenings. The
Awareness in Bereavement Care course allows those who complete it
successfully to become Bereavement Support Volunteers.
Anyone can apply to be a volunteer for Cruse. You do not need to
have any qualifications or previous experience, but you do need to
care about bereaved people and have time to offer. We welcome men
and women of all ages, races, cultures and backgrounds. You are
likely to find there is enormous satisfaction from knowing you make
a positive difference to someone's life. Cruse Bereavement Care has
been restoring hope to bereaved people for 50 years.
For more information about dates, costs and a training course
application form, please contact the Administrator of Suffolk
