Affordable Housing
Affordable housing scheme on Upper Rose Lane,
Palgrave
As residents of Palgrave will be aware, work is now well-underway
on the affordable housing scheme on Upper Rose Lane. The homes will
be ready in the spring of 2009.
The development is being carried out by Wherry
Housing Association, which is part of Circle Anglia, and its
builder, J S Hay Ltd.
Ten properties are being built – a mixture of
one, two and three bedroom houses. All the units will have
gas-fired central heating systems, private front and rear gardens
and allocated parking spaces.
Eight of the units will be let on assured
tenancies at rents that range from £60 to £86 per week. An assured
tenancy is very similar to a council tenancy although, at Palgrave,
there will be no provision for the tenant to buy the property in
the future.
Two of the houses will be for “shared ownership”.
This where people can buy a share in the property and pay a rent to
the housing association on the remainder.
Local people will be given priority when the
properties are allocated. They will have to be on the council’s
housing register before they can be considered.
Building sites are dangerous places for children
and young people to play. We would urge all parents to encourage
their children to stay away from the site whilst works are
underway.
If you are interested in renting one of the
houses you should contact the Allocations Team at Mid-Suffolk
District Council on 01449 724760.

ownership houses, contact Pauline Norman at Circle Anglia on 01603
