Applications are invited for the position of Clerk to Parham Parish Council.

You will be responsible for the administration of the Parish Council, ensuring that its functions as a Local Authority are met, and will also be its Responsible Financial Officer. The Clerk is expected to advise and assist the Council in the formation of its policies, to produce all the information required for making effective decisions and to implement constructively all decisions. You will be accountable to the Council for the effective management of its resources and the careful administration of its finances.

Duties will include:

  • attending all Council meetings and committees and preparing minutes and agendas
  • bringing correspondence and documents to the attention of the Council
  • issuing correspondence on the instructions of (or known policy of) the Council
  • obtaining quotes, receiving and reporting on invoices for goods and services
  • preparing regular and annual sets of accounts and the Council's budget
  • Communications including a Quarterly residents' newsletter

Computer literacy and financial knowledge are essential to this post, as are good record keeping, and written and verbal communication skills.

You should be willing to undertake training and attend relevant seminars.

You will be expected to work from home and provide a secure office base for the Council, for which an allowance is payable. A laptop computer and other equipment will be provided as necessary.

Salary will be paid at the rate of £8.344 per hour for an average of 5 hours per week.
