Rendezvous meets every Tuesday between 10:30am and
12:00.
Parham Rendezvous developed from a member’s suggestion at a
meeting of the Parham Church Parochial Church Council and met first
in April 1994 as a place where people of all ages could meet for a
chat over a cup of tea or coffee and biscuits.
In the winter months the Rendezvous meets in Parham Village Hall
where they have talks, quizzes and table games, plus general chat.
The Village Hall Committee kindly allowed the group to use the hall
free of charge apart from paying for the electricity used.
During the warmer summer months, meetings are held in the gardens
of various Parham houses. There is also a summer outing and a
Christmas party/lunch.
Initially there was no intention to make any profit, but members
asked for a weekly Bring and Buy table and a monthly draw. The
profits from these pay for the extras, with the surplus being
divided between the Village Hall and Parham Church. By early 2006
these organisations have received a total or just under £5000
each!
The majority of regular 'Rendezvousers' are pensionable age, but
younger folk come during school holiday times and there are
occasional visits from a local child minder with her charges.
Everyone is
welcome.
