Peasenhall is fortunate in having its own primary school.
Originally the school took children from five years old until they
finished their education. Later it became part of a two tier
system, with children leaving at eleven years old. Since the mid
nineteen seventies it became part of the Leiston pyramid of
schools; a three tier system, with Peasenhall Primary School taking
children from ‘rising five’ until they are nine.
The school has extensive grounds with a plantation of mature
trees, a well developed wildlife area, school garden and a sports
field. This helps to provide the children with invaluable
opportunities to learn and look after the environment as well as
plenty of room for play and sports.
In 2005 Peasenhall and Middleton formed Suffolk’s first school
federation. The two schools pool and share resources including a
head teacher, while still retaining their individual characters and
Governing Bodies. Children from both schools regularly share
lessons and special events, giving the children in a small school
such as Peasenhall the best of both worlds; the individual
attention that comes with small class sizes and the benefits of
regularly mixing with a larger peer group. The close collaboration
between the two schools also brings the benefits of a much wider
range of readily available teaching expertise and the financial
benefits of shared costs in some areas.

Peasenhall is a good school……furthermore the school has some
features that have already reached an exemplary level. This track
record of considerable improvement means that the capacity for
further development is outstanding.
Pupils’ personal development and well-being are outstanding,
because of an outstanding curriculum that includes excellent
personal, social and health education.
Ofsted 2009 inspection.
