NEWS AND NOTICES

WASTE COLLECTIONS WEEK COMMENCING MONDAY
6 FEBRUARY 2012...

Please note the following message from Babergh District Council with respect to waste and recycling collections.

"Because of the snow and ice some of our waste and recycling collections have been disrupted. Please put your waste or recycling bin out as usual on your normal day of collection and we will do all we can to empty it by the end of the week. Our refuse/recycling helpline number is 0845 606 6045.

All brown bin garden waste collections have been cancelled for this week (Week commencing 06-02-12). Please present your brown bin for collection on your next scheduled brown bin collection date.

We will be reviewing the situation throughout the week, and will send out further updates if the situation changes."

PARKING RESTRICTIONS TO BE INCREASED IN WARD ROAD
Because of the numbers of cars now parking along Ward Road each day (average of 32) it has now become impossible for motorists and buses to safely use this route.  Emergency traffic orders are to be implemented over the next week or two to increase the lining to reduce the number of cars significantly.  Cones are to be placed along these new areas whilst we await the actual lining to be put down.  More permanent orders will then be sought over the coming months which will give us all the opportunity to see how it works and if any further amendment is required.

GRIT HEAPS......................................................................
Please contact the Parish Clerk if you feel your location needs a grit heap to help
in the snow and icy conditions this winter.  If you are prepared to help spread the grit then please let Sandra also have your name and contact details so you can be added to the County Council's insurance.

BUS SHELTERS TO BE REFURBISHED.........................................
Three shelters in Belmont Road and one in Cottingham Road have been repainted recently.  We are now awaiting the back/bottom panel of each shelter to be filled-in with glavanised steel (which will then be painted to match) with the remainder of the panels to be filled with new polycarbonate sheeting.  The council took the decision not to replace with all polycarbonate sheeting because of the level of graffiti to the shelters.  We apologise for any inconvenience this work may cause to bus users during this time.

LITTER BIN DESTROYED ONCE AGAIN.....................................
The litter bin in Ward road situated on the edge of the walkway into Greenspire Grove has been set light and damaged once again.  This bin was only installed just over a year ago and this is the second time that it has been vandalised, the first time it was melted completely and had to be replaced.  Anyone who has any information with regards to this matter can report it to PC Austin on telephone 101 or email at gary.austin@suffolk.pnn.police.uk

MEETINGS OF THE PARISH COUNCIL.................................

SAFER NEIGHBOURHOOD TEAM PANEL MEETING..............

The Team hold regular tasking meetings, which are attended by the police, county, district and parish councillors, as well as our partners from health and educational organsiations.

The aim is to:

  • Discuss issues put forward by the local community
  • Discuss the top three priorities chosen by members of the public and decide how these should be addressed and how we are going to tackle them.
  • Arrange feedback to local people about progress

Prior to this meeting they hold a Neighbourhood Panel meeting [ a public meeting ] to discuss the issues to be put forward to the tasking meeting.  These meetings are open to the public, so if you would like to go along and raise any issues with them, the next one is to be held at Hadleigh High School on Wednesday 21st March 2012 Meetings start at 7.30 pm with an anticipated finishing time of 9.00pm.
