Polstead Art
Group meet each Tuesday afternoon in
Polstead Village Hall from 2pm to 5pm. We are a group of
people of widely varying ages who enjoy painting or
drawing.
The emphasis in the group is enjoyment - in a
relaxed atmosphere, an important part of which is the mutual help
and support between people of differing experience and
ability. We extend a warm welcome to all who feel they would like
to renew their interest in this pastime, and those who have an
interest, but have so far not felt able to become
involved. We can assure you of a friendly welcome.
Come Along on Tuesday Afternoons - There is no
joining fee, but after a free trial session, we each pay £1 per
week (only when we are present) to cover the expenses of the group,
including refreshments half-way through the
afternoon.
Members choose individually what they wish to draw or paint, and
the medium they wish to use.
From time to time we have input from tutors, or demonstrations,
and occasionally group outings to exhibitions or
galleries.
Summer Exhibition -
In July/August of each year the group stages its own Art Exhibition
in the Village Hall with items for sale at the discretion of the
artist, but again, enjoyment is the watchword, and there is no
pressure on members to exhibit if they prefer
otherwise.
Portrait Class - In addition to the Tuesday Art
Group there is an 8 week Portrait Class which runs twice yearly on
Wednesday afternoons from 2pm - 4pm. The charge for each 8
week session is £20. For these classes we are very
fortunate to have the presence of the very accomplished artist Bill
Whitsett.
Anyone interested in either the Art Group or the Portraiture
classes is invited to get in touch with Brian Orriss, Chairman of
the Art Group, on 01787 210574.
