Scores on the Doors
This is a national public information service where you can find
the official local authority hygiene ratings for food businesses,
which uses a simple system of scoring for hygiene, compliance and
management. Babergh visited us in February and after an exhaustive
trawl through the shop and our procedures, decided we warranted a
top score of
Five Stars
for our overall very high standards.

Energy Monitoring
We have secured 2 energy monitor gadgets (from Dedham Vale Energy
Monitoring Project) that can help you oversee your electrical power
consumption. It’s interesting to watch over a 2 week period the use
and cost of your various bits of equipment and appreciate the
effect on your electricity bills. The monitors can be borrowed from
the shop – telephone Mandy Hall first on 01473 658690 to put your
name against the next available monitor.
Ham
Our world-famous Suffolk ham was recently the subject of the
council’ s Environmental Health Department sampling and check for
poor procedures and substances harmful to health. Their “mystery”
shopping visit and subsequent lab testing results in either
satisfactory or unsatisfactory rating. We achieved (again) a
Satisfactory result.
Local Radio Presenter
– Lesley Dolphin - included a radio spotlight on Polstead recently
when amongst those interviewed on air was Erica Pomerans who was
able to say some good things about the shop, the community and the
local black cherries.
