The Falklands 25 years on….


Lenare Thompson recently travelled to Antarctica stopping en route at
The Falkland Island where many Royal Marines fought and died in defence of
this small outpost of Great Britain. While there Lenare laid a crosses in memory
of the Royal Marines on behalf of the Lowestoft Branch.

One Suffolk Community Portal Awards 2007


The Royal Marine Association Lowestoft Branch web site has won
an award in the annual Onesuffolk Community Portal Awards 2007.

                On Monday 1st October Rosemary Cochrane, Jennifer Rogers and              John Drewery attended an Awards Ceremony arranged by OneSuffolk 
    at the Kesgrave War Memorial Community Hall.

The Royal Marines Association, Lowestoft Branch, who set up their website in July this year,
were among other groups in the Suffolk area
 to be awarded a prize for their websites.


The award given to the branch was for a ‘Webmasters Choice’ Award in recognition
of outstanding achievement.

Rosemary was the driving force behind the site doing all the
 hard work of setting it up and getting it running with the very welcomed help of Kerry Burn (pictured far right) of OneSuffolk whose help and patience was very much appreciated, while Jennifer provided the photographs
and text.

The evening started at 6pm when the award winners and their guests were welcomed with a cup of coffee or tea.

Rachel Sloane of Radio Suffolk hosted the ceremony with the awards being presented by Cliff Cocker, Chairman of Suffolk Coastal District Council.

After the presentation of certificates a
very fine buffet was been provided,
which was much appreciated by all.
