The Rattlesden Community Council was established in 1972 to act
as trustee and manager of 2.23 acres of land obtained for the
Rattlesden village community from a local farmer, Mr T F Owen, for
use as a recreation ground.
The pavilion is, at present, used mainly by the 80 or so members
of the Rattlesden Football Club. The aims of the committee are
threefold:
- to replace the dilapidated building with an appropriate new
pavilion to cater for the requirements of all villagers
- to maintain the small enclosed play area and the basketball
practice area
- to provide entertainment for people from Rattlesden and
surrounding villages.
Activities are, of necessity, designed to raise funds, and
include a Lucky Numbers Club, Firework Night Celebrations, Charity
Ball, Barn Dance, Family Fun Day and other occasional events. To
date, in excess of £75,000 has been raised thanks to generous
support from villagers, sponsers etc.
