The Rattlesden Community Council was established in 1972 to act as trustee and manager of 2.23 acres of land obtained for the Rattlesden village community from a local farmer, Mr T F Owen, for use as a recreation ground.

The pavilion is, at present, used mainly by the 80 or so members of the Rattlesden Football Club. The aims of the committee are threefold:

  1. to replace the dilapidated building with an appropriate new pavilion to cater for the requirements of all villagers
  2. to maintain the small enclosed play area and the basketball practice area
  3. to provide entertainment for people from Rattlesden and surrounding villages.

Activities are, of necessity, designed to raise funds, and include a Lucky Numbers Club, Firework Night Celebrations, Charity Ball, Barn Dance, Family Fun Day and other occasional events. To date, in excess of £75,000 has been raised thanks to generous support from villagers, sponsers etc.
