1. Rattlesden Church
Sent in by Brian Moore. He remembers the timber framed house being
a shop in the late 1940s selling ice cream.
2. Rattlesden garage
Sent in by Brian Moore. Who still remembers the hand operated
petrol pump which was used until the mid fifties.
3. Entrance to village
Sent in by Brian Moore who used to walked from Fen street past
these houses on the way to school from 1943 to 1949. He says Mr
Aley was Head Master followed by Stan Willis.

Lower Road

Rattlesden Village Sign
The village sign at the entrance to the village was made by Edward
Hitchcock of Gedding Mill Forge in 1991. Based on a design by Mrs.
Linda Wood, the sign portrays an archway of whalebones within which
are set the village church and stream, across them lying an
anchor.
Rising Sun Hill

St Nicholas Church
A beautiful church situated in the centre of the village, some
parts of the building date back as far as the 13th century.

One of two public houses in the village, situated along Lower
Road.
The Whalebones
The owner of a nearby house set up the Whalebones across the stream
and provided a village landmark for decades to come.
