The village hall (formerly church hall) was built originally as a maltings. It was converted and left in trust to the Church in 1902 by Miss Barney (The Barney Trust). Due to the dilapidated condition of the hall and the inability of the Church to finance improvements and repairs, a “Trust Deed” and 28 year lease was drawn up in 1982 appointing the Parish Council as Custodian Trustees. A management committee was formed since when vast improvements have been made. These have been financed by tremendous support from village people for a varied programme of fund-raising events (over £20,000 since 1983) plus interest free loans from local businessmen (repaid by 1985), donations from the Parochial Church Council, Parish Council and various grants from Mid Suffolk District Council.

Funds have been used to repair, maintain and renew the fabric of the hall as well as provide essentials such as tables and chairs etc., to improve the standards of comfort and safety for all village hall users.
