Events

Three major events are held every year for and by the villagers of Redlingfield. In spring there is a cheese & wine, in the summer a BBQ and in the autumn the harvest supper. During the winter coffee mornings are held on the first Wednesday of the month (leaflets detailing these are distributed to every household in Redlingfield). In the summer the Rural Coffee Caravan Information Project visits the village monthly. Other events - such as flower festivals are also held. Click here for pictures and news of the village's most recent flower festival, the music festival to celebrate the life of Laura Baxter and the memorial built in memory of the crew of a B-17 which crashed in the village during WW2. An open gardens/flower festival events is planned for summer 2011 - date to be set. And, Redlingfield ladies are planning a lunch at the Black Horse in Thorndon in April following the successful Christmas lunch.

Wednesday December 7 at Jacqueline Love’s home (1 Abbotts Meadow), 10am to noon  - the morning will include mulled wine, mince pies and a free raffle
Wednesday January 4 at Jan Butcher’s home (Hill Cottage), 10am to noon - the morning will include a book swap)
Wednesday February 1 at Pat Kelly’s home (Redmill), 10am to noon
Wednesday March 7 at Midge Gibbon’s home (Rush Meadow), 10am to noon

Harvest Supper 2011: Sadly we decided not to hold the harvest supper – the cost of entertainment and poor ticket sales in recent years meant we could well have made a loss. However, we are looking at alternatives for 2012 and are open to ideas on how to celebrate the end of harvest. The best idea so far – given recent autumn weather – is from Eddie Hawes who suggested holding a bacon butty breakfast BBQ on the Doorstep Green. Further ideas are welcome though.

The full programme of events for Redlingfield & Occold WI for 2012 should soon be available on the WI page on this site. Click here to go to the  Redlingfield & Occold WI page and what's on in our neighbouring villages is available in the village magazine.
