2008 Village Fete

Following a short rainy start the fete had lovelly weather, the beer tent sold out as well as the berger and sausage tent. The event in the main ring included sheepdog trials , pony racing, punch and judy, fire brigade, birds of prey and childrens races etc. The many stalls kept visitors busy and entertained. It is estimated that this was the best year yet for fund raising. Many thanks to everone who help to make it such an enjoyable day.

Do you have brown conifer hedges ?

This may be due the the Cypress Aphid which has come to Britain from the Middle East.
The aphids strike between May and November. They are about 4mm long and grey/brown colouring. The signs are of attack are black sooty mould on the plant and large areas of the plant turning brown.
Advice is to check the hedge regularly and spray with an insecticide containing Bifenthrin.
We understand that there may be an attack in the village.
